Structural parts of articles and guidelines for writing them

All structural parts begin with a new paragraph. Their titles are in bold.

The title page contains:

1) the full title of the article, which should be informative, brief (about 80 symbols), without  abbreviations (except those commonly used in scientific literature), printed as a sentence (with an uppercase letter, then lowercase letters);

2) initials of first names, patronymics and surnames of all authors;

3) brief information about the authors (full names, patronymics and surnames of all authors, position, academic title);

4) full name and postal address of the institutions from where the work is submitted, including the index;

5) e-mail address, telephone number, surname, first name, patronymic of the author responsible for correspondence with the Editorial Board.

Attention! The name in the English version is given in full, the address is given in reverse order, transliteration is used for street names.

The authors are linked to their place of work through consecutive numbering, indicated in upper case at the end of each author's surname and before the name of the institution where the author works. The numbers placed at the author's surname and the institution where he/she works must coincide. If the author has several places of work, all institutions relevant to the performed research are indicated under separate numbers. The sequence of numbering of institutions is in direct dependence on the order of authors.

The abstract is the most readable part of the article and is 200 - 250 words in length. It should not contain abbreviations and shortenings except for units of measurement, mathematical quantities and terms. The article includes 4 required parts: 1) Introduction; 2) Materials and Methods; 3) Results (presentation of the main findings and their statistical significance); 4) Conclusion (conclusions based on their own research/observation results).

The keywords (up to 6) are intended for indexing the article in information retrieval systems. They are placed on the page with the abstract in italics, with semicolon and without a full stop at the end. The efficiency of article search and its subsequent citation depend on adequate selection of keywords. In this regard, it is recommended to avoid vocabulary rarely used in scientific literature, long word combinations that complicate automatic search, repetition of words from the title of the manuscript.

The Introduction reveals the relevance of the research and highlights the state of the issue with references to the most significant publications. At the end of the Introduction, the objective is formulated, reflecting the need to conduct the research (the objective statement in the introduction should coincide with the objective statement in the abstract). The objective statement in the abstract should coincide with the objective statement in the introduction.

Materials and methods include criteria for inclusion/exclusion of material and rationale for the choice of study methods. This part includes information on factors limiting the study.

The Results are the main part of the manuscript. They should be presented in a logical sequence in the form of text, tables and illustrations. Duplication of data in tables and illustrations is not allowed. Only the most important data from tables and illustrations should be mentioned in the text.

It is strongly NOT recommended to describe your own results in the impersonal form used to describe the results obtained by other authors.

Example of verb usage:

received, discovered, shown, etc. - for one's own results; was obtained, discovered, shown, etc. - for other people's results.

The discussion includes an interpretation of your own results and their significance when compared with relevant data from other researchers. It is not necessary to repeat the information already given in the Introduction part and detailed data from the Results part. The limitations of the study and its practical relevance should be noted. Reasoned recommendations can be included in the discussion.

The Conclusion contains the findings based on your own data. It should be brief and not just a list of results.

The information on conflict of interest (if there is any) is given after the conclusion.

Acknowledgements should be placed at the end of the text. In this part can be noted persons who made a significant contribution to the work, but do not meet the criteria of authorship; data on financial support of the research, grants, sponsors.

Tables should complete but not duplicate the text. Each table should be numbered according to the first mention of it in the text and have a short title placed above the table and printed in bold. The design of numbering and title of the table is shown in the given example. If the material contains only one table, its number is not indicated. Each column and row of the table should have a short title. Abbreviations can be used, which should be deciphered in the Materials and Methods part or in a note to the table. The note also includes all explanations and statistical criteria for the significance of differences. The note in English is placed after the table. It is followed by a note in Russian language.

Illustrations (graphs, charts, diagrams, photographs, drawings, schemes)

Photographs and figures should not be overloaded with text captions. Numbering, title and notes to illustrations are made according to the rules given for tables, but the serial number and title are placed under the illustration. They are followed by a note. Statistical criteria of reliability of differences can be placed either in the note or in the field of the illustration. In the captions to microphotographs, the degree of magnification and the method of staining (if used) should be indicated. It is obligatory for graphs to note what is given on the coordinate axes; an explanation of details and denoting symbols (arrows, circles, etc.) is obligatory for pictures. To improve the efficiency of data perception, it is recommended that similar illustrations be labelled with letters a, b, c, d, etc., combined in one field and arranged as one picture, indicating in a note, if necessary, the information for the image under each letter.

Bibliography (list of references) is printed in single spacing, each source on a new line under a serial number. All works are listed in the list, in the order of citation (references to them in the text), not by alphabetical order of the first authors' surnames. When individual surnames of authors are mentioned in the text, they should be preceded by initials (surnames of foreign authors are given in their original transcription).

Bibliographic references in the text of the article are given in Arabic numerals in square brackets.

Dissertation theses and dissertation abstracts, the main content of which is set out in the publications cited therein, should NOT be included in the list of references. References to these publications seem to be more correct. References to abstracts and conference proceedings, the content of which, as a rule, is a preparatory or final stage of the writing of the article, are also NOT allowed. Reference to this article seems more appropriate. These provisions are in line with international practice for bibliographic citations.

The order of the list is as follows:

(a) Author(s) of the book or article (in italics). ALL (!) authors are included (with initials after surnames);

(b) title of the book or article;

(c) output data. In some cases, the authors of books are their editors or compilers. After the surname of the last of them in brackets in foreign references should be put (ed.).

The bibliographic description of the book after its title includes: the city where it is published, after the colon - the name of the publisher, after the semicolon - the year of publication (after the year of publication put a colon), pages. The city where the book was published is given in full, except for Moscow (M.) and St. Petersburg (SPb.). If the reference is given to a chapter from a book, the authors and the title of the chapter are mentioned first, after the dot - with a capital letter “In the book:” (“In”:) and the surname(s) of the author(s) or the editor acting in his/her capacity, then the title of the book and its output data. If an ISBN is available, it is given at the end of the reference.

The bibliographic description of a journal article includes the surnames and initials of ALL (!) authors in italics, the title of the article, journal (journal title is in italics), year, volume (indicated only in Arabic numerals), journal number, page numbers ‘from’ and ‘to’. The article and journal titles should be followed by dots.

References to foreign sources should include the electronic address of the posting and the digital object identifier (DOI). The same details should also be given for domestic publications included in international databases.

The authors are responsible for the inaccuracy of the submitted bibliographic data up to the denial of the publication right.
