Journal History

The journal, being the successor of the collection of scientific papers “Larch”, published from 1962 to 1988, covers a wide range of scientific achievements in the forest science.  Original articles on the problems of biology, forestry, mechanical processing and chemical processing of coniferous wood, as well as anniversary and review articles on the history and state of forest science are published on its pages. The first issue of the journal “Conifers of the boreal area” was published in August 2003 on the initiative of the Vice-Rector for Scientific Activity of the Siberian State Technological University, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Igor N. Pavlov. He became the first Editor-in-Chief of the theoretical and applied research journal “Conifers of the boreal area”. In the same year, the journal was included in the list of peer-reviewed scientific editions, in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of candidate of sciences, for the degree of doctor of sciences should be published.  Then from 2013 to 2019, the Editor-in-Chief was Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor George A. Suboch, and from March 2019 to February 2020, the Editor-in-Chief was Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Sergey L. Shevelev. In February 2020, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Natalia P. Bratilova was appointed Editor-in-Chief, who heads the journal to the present day. In December 2023, during the classification of journals in the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications, the Journal “Conifers of the Boreal Area” was assigned K2 category.
